True story. On a whim, I asked my friend, Alex McCauley, if I could use a poem of his as a script for a short narrative project. After begging some other friends to help shoot it on an idle Thursday afternoon, we ended up submitting the video for an art commission competition that was offered by the Office of University Ministries at Seattle Pacific University. We won first place and were awarded $200. Feeling somewhat reprehensible about just taking money from a minisitry organization (isn't that... like... stealing from a church?), we decided that we'd like to see what good could be done with that $200. Instead, we decided that, along the same thematic lines of Alex's Two Cups, we'd use the money to take a step away from ignorance and indifference. We'd use the money to buy ten $20 meals for ten homeless Seattle residents, and in the process learn and document their stories. We'll let you know how it turns out.
